Developed for our client Vistry Group, The Gateway will see 801 dwellings created in North East Bexhill. A ‘community heart’ is also being developed which features a sports pavilion, sports pitches, community building, retail, and areas of public open space. Working alongside the client and local authority Rother District Council, we have ensured that the vision for the project has been captured and driven throughout the design. Houses form most of the scheme and the street scene is mixed to provide interest along the frontage. 40% of the properties will be offered for affordable rent or shared ownership.
The project is one of the first in the South to have a community heating hub. This will provide heat via centralised large scale heat pumps powered by low carbon electricity. Hot water is pumped to each home via an underground flow and return pipe network which generates the heat and water residents need on demand. This sustainable approach removes the need for individual heat pumps and cylinders, only requiring a small Heat Interface Unit to be installed into each property.
