We are acting as delivery architect on a major mixed use scheme at the heart of Ebbsfleet Garden City.
Alkerden is one of three new neighbourhoods that forms part of the larger eastern quarry development. Once complete, Alkerden will offer 1,500 homes and creates a whole new community.
To support this new village, at the heart of it will be the Market Centre. This mixed-use space will provide opportunities for residents to work, shop and learn in an inclusive, safe and vibrant environment. Described as a ‘modern representation of a high street’, the centre offers high quality buildings and spacious public realm. gdm architects will be providing technical design services for the Market Centre from Stage 4 onwards.
Design will now be progressed for the elements in the Centre, including:
The Market Centre will create a strong relationship with the neighbouring villages through the continuation of the ‘fast track corridor’, walking and cycling routes developed across all three neighbourhoods to provide connectivity between them. The design for the Market Centre responds to the views of local residents and meets the specifically developed design code for Ebbsfleet Garden City, whilst providing a joined-up approach with the nearby residential neighbourhoods.
