gdm were approached by the school and their project manager to design a new teaching block with classrooms, library and changing facilities, and a new auditorium with music and drama rooms. The proposal needed to respect the schools existing listed buildings whilst creating an individuality and architectural freedom which is not confused with the architecture of the original school. Through the demolition of a number of existing poor standard buildings the scheme proposed three new buildings or building areas to create a refreshed and exciting environment which linked the old and the new.
